Use of Healthcare and Advice Services

94 used the healthcare and advice services. 84 guests used one or more of the healthcare services and 10 used the advice service only.

Medical

35% of guests had no GP and a further 24% did not say, therefore it is  likely that the majority were un-registered.
32 (40%) of guests had previous medical problems including: 21% were on medication.

Guests presented with an average of 2 problems (Range 1 - 6).
53% of guests received over the counter medication; 12% received prescription drugs; 19% required dressings and advice and/or reassurance was given to 16% of guests.

One guest was referred to hospital and another was followed up by a health outreach team.

Dental

12% of guests had pain at the time of consultation with the dentist and a further 12% had had pain in the previous 4 weeks, but at least 38% had  not seen a dentist in 2 years. For 12% it had been longer than 2 years and 4% had never seen  one. 7% said they had tried to and 50% of these had been refused treatment.  39% had significant findings.

Chiropody

37 guests used the chiropody service. 67% had seen a chiropodist before. 17% had not seen one for over a year; 46% had seen a chiropodist one year ago at the ROOF or similar set up. 29% had been seen in under a year. 39% had had previous chiropody problems. Guests presented with up to 4 problems, mainly calluses and nail problems.

Advice

17 guests used the advice service.
73% were male and 27% female.
The average and median age was 38 years.
Therefore a greater percentage were female and they tended to be younger

53% were receiving benefits: 78% were receiving Job seekers allowance; 11% Rough sleepers and 11% disability benefit

The majority of guests requested help with accommodation
Of those requesting help with housing 50% were placed.
