Development/Future

WISH is committed to enhancing and developing its services to the single homeless. Initially WISH will seek to secure the long-term future of the ROOF as an annual service, increasing the number of shelters across West London to meet an acknowledged and growing need.

It is intended that a regular outreach service will start within the coming year which will provide contact and support, a bespoke clothing service and hot food to rough sleepers on a weekly basis. Research will be undertaken with the aim of providing an all night café offering warmth, security and economically priced refreshment to rough sleepers.

In the longer term it is the aim of WISH to provide all year round open access services, both day centres and residential accommodation, to rough sleepers and the many hidden homeless in our community.

To achieve these aims WISH must raise awareness of the nature and incidence of all forms of single homelessness; and encourage local communities to acknowledge and act to alleviate this form of discrimination.

Comment: 'It would be nice if the length of stay was until the New Year'

Due to the extended closure of services to mark the year 2000, WISH has decided that its ROOF will be open from the 23rd of December 1999 until the 4th of January 2000.
